2017. Fundraising Event

The Frederick Ashton Foundation hosted an exclusive evening 'Frederick Ashton - The Living Legacy' on Wednesday 13 September 2017 to raise funds in support of the Foundation and its activities. Held by generous permission of John and Dorothy Ind at their Chelsea home, the fifty invited guests enjoyed an al fresco champagne reception before moving indoors to hear Sir Anthony Dowell, former Principal dancer and Director of The Royal Ballet and rights holder of The Dream and A Month in the Country, discuss the responsibilities of owning and staging works created by Frederick Ashton with Kevin O'Hare, Director of The Royal Ballet and Royal Ballet Principal dancers Francesca Hayward and Alexander Campbell. Rare film footage of Anthony Dowell dancing Troyte's solo from Enigma Variations and of Antoinette Sibley and Anthony Dowell rehearsing the pas de deux from The Dream was shown, after which a light buffet supper was served.

The Foundation is very grateful to John and Dorothy Ind for their generosity in opening the doors of their home to the Foundation and for their sponsorship of much of the evening's costs; the Foundation also thanks most warmly those who attended and gave so generously.

The proceeds of the evening contributed to the Foundation's Shadowing Scheme and other activities.
